Collection: Noro Uchiwa

Noro lives up to its reputation for creating exquisite yarns with Uchiwa, a luxurious blend of cotton, viscose and silk. This Japanese yarn's sophisticated, multicoloured shading reflects its namesake, Uchiwa うちわ (pronounced: Ujiwa). In Japanese culture, Uchiwa is a leaf-shaped fan or leaf fan, literally translating to "repelling mosquitoes with a leaf fan". In the hot Japanese summers, uchiwa fans are essential to quickly fan yourself with some refreshing air. Artfully painted, the fans often serve as valuable room decorations, especially if they are also made from high-quality materials.

Uchiwa features contrasting colour twists that create an eye-catching tweedy marl. At the same time, a longer, more subtle colour blending produces a beautiful gradation in the background colouring. Overall, an absolutely stunning yarn.

Each ball of this 10 ply/Aran weight yarn is a generously sized 200g/500m, allowing you to complete a garment with as little as two to three balls. The hand-dyed nature of this yarn gives each ball a subtle uniqueness, with slight variations occurring between balls and dye-lots. Please ensure you purchase enough yarn to complete your project.
