This Clover Large Felting Needle Mat is ideal for large needle felting projects. The mat is used in conjunction with a felting needle (sold separately), with the brush-like bristles of the mat enabling smooth punching with little resistance.This felting mat allows the fibres of the wool roving or wool felt to mesh well with the base fabric. The bristle length provides the ideal hardness and density for punching. Easy to use, simply place the wool felt or roving over the base fabric (which is laid over the felting mat) and pierce lightly with the felting needle. The fibre will become interlaced, attaching the motif to the fabric beautifully.

This mat is also ideal for creating three dimensional felt shapes. As a general rule, a piece of plain paper is placed between the mat and the wool roving as it is being needle felted (this helps to prevent the roving becoming caught up in the bristles of the mat).
