Here is a cost effective way to explore the creative art of cyanotype printing. Cyanotype is the original sun-printing process, one of the earliest photographic techniques, dating back to a process developed by Sir John Herschel in 1842. Suitable for applying to both fabric and paper, this set includes the two chemicals needed to create beautiful blue prints, harnessing the power of the sun to make detailed prints from virtually any object that casts a shadow. Explore prints made by tools, toys, plant material, stones, sand, string, lace, just to name a few.

The two bottles in this set contain powdered Potassium Ferricyanide and Ferric Ammonium Citrate, which are activated by filling with water. Once diluted, the stock solutions have long shelf lives. The solutions are then mixed in equal quantities, applied to the fabric or paper of your choice (pure natural fibres work best with fabrics), with objects then placed on the material. After exposure to the sun, the material is rinsed in clean water, resulting in beautiful cyan-coloured prints.

This safe process is great for photographers, mixed media artists, printmakers, quilters, embroiderers and more. It's easy, forgiving, quick, magical and fun!

This set includes one bottle of powdered Potassium Ferricyanide (22.68g) and one bottle of powdered Ferric Ammonium Citrate (53.86g), plus instructions with helpful tips.
