Olympus Sashiko Thread Navy 11
Olympus Sashiko Thread Navy 11
Sashiko is a type of traditional Japanese embroidery or stitching, historically used for the decorative and functional reinforcement of cloth and clothing. Due to the abundance of indigo dyed cloth in Japan, Sashiko was traditionally white cotton thread on blue fabric, although red stitching was also popular for more decorative work.
In our contemporary context, Sashiko threads include a broad range of colours, and are now popular for quilting, general embroidery, visible mending and even knitting!
This pure cotton Sashiko thread from Japanese textile manufacturer Olympus is an indivisible, matte cotton, perfectly suited to Sashiko embroidery. Each skein contains 20.1m (22 yards)of thread, and is presented in a clear cellophane resealable bag, numbered with its individual colour number on a paper wrapper.
Made in Japan.
